Summary: Positives that I would like to highlight: wonderful view of the bay and a great location (All the activities we wanted to do were less than half an hour away). Secondly, the home is large and spacious. We booked this place knowing it would meet our needs of a place to sleep and relax after a day's activities. That being said, here were the things that negatively impacted our stay: the home was cold and we had to set the temp higher than normal just to get it warm. The furniture was not in the best condition; we did not use any of the dining chairs and felt safer having our children sit on the couch. The outlets are extremely worn and would not hold a plug. Lucky enough, we brought a power strip and used it to charge all of our devices. The TV was hit or mis, we had to constantly unplug it from the outlet and back in for it to power on. The floors were uneven in a lot of places, some that made you question if it was safe to put all your weight on one foot. Comparing photos again, it looks like furniture was rearranged or some replace. All in, the home appeared mostly the same -- under remodel/repais.

Summary: First off…our family did have a great time at this property. The location is perfect and being on the water with the huge dock was awesome! We also the loved upper and lower waterfront decks. The hosts were so nice and so responsive. There was an issue as soon as we arrived that he came to the house and we were able to discuss. Having said that, the inside is in need of repair. The living room furniture is very dated and doesn’t look clean. The carpet is need of removal or replacement. The dishwasher didn’t work and the TV didn’t work. We stayed 2 nights and there was only one towel per person. Only 2 kitchen towels in the entire house and no washer/dryer. The kitchen didn’t have enough coffee cups or plates for how many people the house could sleep. The outdoor chairs on the lower deck are in need of being thrown away. Thankfully we had our own bag chairs in the car. The grill that is advertised is not in working order and is barely standing. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms are really nice and large although lacking proper lighting. The house could be so nice. There definitely needs to be some serious TLC on the inside. Stocking the kitchen with more dishes, maybe a pizza pan, pizza cutter, etc and more towels throughout would be a good start. Not sure what we would have done if we had stayed longer with no more towels and no way to wash the ones we had. We all feel like we spent way more on this rental than it was worth.

Summary: House was nice, looks like the owner is making some improvements. A Washer & Dryer would be nice. Also would recommend more the one dish towel for the kitchen and maybe extra bath towels in the closet. The place has a lot of room. The bedroom had sliding doors that open onto a second deck overlooking the bay. It was beautiful at night. The kitchen is large which makes it great when your cooking the whole time you are away. The best thing was fishing and crabbing off the pier. Over all we had a great time and would recommend this place to stay. Communication with Kathleen was great, she answered all my question.

Summary: My family did an extended weekend at this property. Brought the boat down and tied it up at the dock for the stay. We used the public boat ramp which was just down the street, in walking distance, and a very nice ramp. The pier/dock at the house is sturdy with enough tie off points to secure boat (we have a 21'). you could tie off multiple boats if needed. Plenty of water to get in and out, even at low tide. Close to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel which offers excellent fishing. We caught a few fish off the dock as well. This would be a prefect property for a guys (or gals) get-a-way fishing trip! We also enjoyed swimming off of the dock; bottom is sand, not all muddy and yucky like some places. House if very spacious, lots of room, comfortable. Enough off-street parking for 4 vehicles. There is also a marina 2 doors down which features a restaurant and small bar (Willoughby Fish House). You can also enjoy a free air show from the Naval Base across the water. Not quiet but cool to watch. We could hear base play the National Anthem in the AM, reveille, and retreat. Lots of cosmetic defects but everything functional. If they fixed all the cosmetic defects and made a few simple upgrades (better grill, permanent ladder on pier, added a washer/dryer, fish cleaning station,) , they could double or triple the price. This is a bargain for a waterfront property with a dock on navigable water. I would defiantly stay here again (especially at this price point).

Summary: I relied heavily on these reviews. Host had seemed to have all the right answers in response to the negative reviews. Location was good & the 4 stars seemed enough, esp when our options were running out. Things to note: Front door had a board across it to cover a hole. There are many things like this that were unfinished/could easily be replaced/repaired but instead neglected. Upon entering, you smell the animal urine & mildew. I immediately message host to which she responds that she can get someone to clean the carpet the next day. We didn't want to be bothered during vacation so we declined. We knew this place was “pet friendly”. But what we didn’t know was that there was a pet fee as it wasn’t in the initial details. It’s in there now and we understood the need, especially after experiencing the smell right away. I immediately told her we had our dogs to which she invoiced me $99. I asked her if we could use Venmo as the Vrbo app was acting funny. My sister mistakenly sent her $300 via Venmo. My sister has yet to see the 200 reimbursement for this overpayment and to these messages, she has become silent. This was 2 weeks ago. Please note that I have not asked for a refund or a discount on this stay. I merely asked for the overpayment. Other things she has responded to: recommendations to restaurants, where we can get beach umbrellas, & some recommendations she had when the lights and the electrical outlet went out in the 2nd floor bathroom. We weren’t able to get the lights to work per her recommendations to check the breakers. Here are other things to note: exposed wires in most bedrooms, hardened foam product on things like broken tiles, wood, and carpet holes. Gnat and flies everywhere despite putting food away. No outside furniture. No washer/dryer. No curtains in bathrooms. Warped deck planks. Rain leaked through 1st fl bedroom window, enough to wake my sister in her sleep. I support small business owners but not at the expense of my family and when it risks putting other families at risk as well. The sad part is, most of these are easy fixes. Choose wisely, read all reviews. If you do choose to stay here, come equipped and mentally prepared to be disappointed. Bring air fresheners, cleaning supplies, house slippers & bug repellant. Lots of safety issues & I would not recommend for families with small kids, allergies, and pets. Pros? Location, sunset, & beach was close. We had a great time being together but we learned our lesson.
